Tarifa is Europe´s principal spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The few days with little wind don´t necessarily mean lazy days. There is always an opportunity for paddlesurf or for trying out a kayak. Land sports are not far behind: Tarifa is a fantastic place for mountain biking, climbing, hiking in the natural parks, and it is within easy reach from several golf courses.

Walking along endless beaches or through dense cork oak forests whilst admiring breathtaking views from the top of a mountain is a wonderful way to escape from everyday life, and there is no better place than the wild surroundings of Tarifa. There are marked trails, with one of them, the well-known “Buda” route, in fact starting right behind the Punta Sur hotel. The rocks of San Bartolo mountain, just a few kilometers from the hotel, boast some classic routes and sport routes for all levels. They are protected from the wind and offer the possibility of climbing all year round thanks to the mild climate of the region. The rock consists of compact sand and limestone and most of the climbing routes are about 25 meters long, although there are also routes of up to 80 meters.
